MILPITAS, Calif., Feb 13, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:PTEC), the global leader in core systems firmware, today announced agreements with five top notebook manufacturers - Quanta Computer Inc., Compal Electronics, Inc., Wistron Corporation, Inventec Corporation, First International Computer Inc (or "FIC") - to license the Phoenix SecureCore Suite that includes the SecureCore Mobile product. The companies will use the Phoenix solution as the firmware foundation for their upcoming laptop computer products. The OEMs chose Phoenix solutions not only because of advanced security features but also to ensure their notebooks will be optimized to take full advantage of the new Microsoft Windows(R) Vista(TM) operating system.

Phoenix SecureCore Suite fully supports the key industry standards required by Microsoft Windows Vista. The Phoenix firmware platforms support the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) 2.0 specification, part of an industry initiative to ensure a transparent interface between the computer operating system and the platform firmware when the computer is booting up.
The Phoenix SecureCore solution is based on firmware technology that ensures notebook computers deliver the highest level of security features available, starting with StrongROM, an enhanced, embedded cryptographic engine that authenticates and protects the firmware.
